Children's Countryside Day

The 16th Children's Countryside Day - Thursday 8th June 2023

The event is specifically planned by the Glendale Agricultural Society to give children of all abilities aged between 5 and 11 years, first-hand experience of rural life. The day is free of charge to schools and any Primary or First school from Northumberland and North Tyneside is eligible to apply for places. The event is organised by an enthusiastic committee of volunteers with a further 48 volunteer stewards, all of whom are passionate about delivering this excellent event. We are very proud that this event was recently awarded the Northumberland National Park Young People's Mentor Award.

Through interactive demonstrations, our aim is to connect the countryside to the curriculum. During the day, over 1,650 school children from Northumberland and North Tyneside will be given an insight into food, farming and the countryside. The day incorporates over 65 countryside-based industries and the children will have the opportunity to see farm animals and machinery close up and meet a variety of individuals and businesses that are part of the rural community.

This event could not take place without the financial and practical support of a variety of organisations, businesses and individuals; and our most heartfelt thanks go to Lilburn Estates Farming Partnership for allowing us to use the Showfield for the Children's Day. We are extremely grateful to the following businesses and individuals for their generous financial support in 2022.
