2019 Silage Competition

10th November 2019

2019 Silage Competition

Over 22 farms across Northumberland took part in the second Glendale Agricultural Society Silage Competition. The event was organised and run by Mark Mather and Jack Frater, and was another successful and well-supported competition.

Allowing local farmers to showcase and maximise the best from their forage, this year's competition was sponsored by Rumenco and Mole Valley Farmers.

The two sponsors raised £160 from the £5 entry fee for the competition, and all of which was donated back to the Society.

All entrants received advice on any supplements required and were then in the running to win some great prizes provided by both Rumenco and Mole Valley Farmers. The awards evening was held at The Plough at Alnwick and received a very good turnout. Nick Hargreave of High Learchild near Alnwick was the overall winner and was presented with the Glendale Agricultural Society Trophy for the Best Overall Silage by Andrew Walton, the Chairman of the Society.
