Can You Conquer The Quiz Master?

The time has come to brush up on your general knowledge in preparation for the Glendale Agricultural Society’s (GAS) annual quiz night.  This year, the highly anticipated annual event will take place on Tuesday 21st February, at the Tankerville Arms Hotel, Wooler and is sponsored by H&H Insurance Brokers and H&H Land and Property.

As in previous years, the society are expecting up to 20 teams of four people who will battle it out to take home the title, and the top prize.  Teams must book their places in advance with tickets priced at £8.  Included in the ticket price is food for thought to fuel the mind, a pie and pea supper which will be served prior to the quiz at 7pm.

The quiz will once again be hosted by the familiar face of quiz master, Ronald Barber, and there will be a range of general knowledge questions including a picture round, geography, history and music.  In the event of a draw there will be the ever anticipated tie breaker question.  The losing team will also be able to stir the pot with a wooden spoon.

A highlight of the GAS calendar, the annual quiz is one of many events organised by the society.  Commenting ahead of the quiz, Secretary of the GAS, Rachael Tait said:  “Last year the quiz was a fantastic evening and the winning team ‘4 Ceps’ went home with their prize, kindly donated by Kelso Races.

“Everyone can be sure of a fun and entertaining evening, so rally the troupes and enter your team as soon as possible.  Open to both members and non-members, the quiz is sure to not only challenge your general knowledge, but also bring out the competitive side in everyone!

Part of the H&H Group Plc., H&H Insurance Brokers and H&H Land and Property have both recently opened offices at The Gatehouse, adjacent to the mart at Newtown St. Boswells, allowing them to be fully dedicated to customers in the Borders and wider Scottish market.

“I must say a huge thank you to this year’s Sponsors, H&H Insurance Brokers and H&H Land and Property.  Their support is extremely generous and invaluable to the success of the evening,” adds Rachael.

One of the key aims of the Glendale Agricultural Show is to share knowledge and promote farming and agriculture throughout the Glendale area and further afield.  The largest event of the GAS, the Glendale Show, which takes place each August Bank Holiday helps to raise awareness of rural life, showcasing livestock, producers and craftspeople.  The Children’s Countryside Day, which is organised by the society, firmly focuses on the education of children throughout the region.
